With its latest live-action film, Disney is once again tugging at our sentimental heartstrings. As you may have heard, this time it's a remake of the 1940s classic Pinocchio, with a cast of extremely remarkable actors stepping in to play the characters that many of us are familiar with. The Plot of Pinocchio 2022
At this point, we've seen a couple different versions of this story on the big screen. In 1996, 2002, and 2019, the Pinocchio film was re-released. So, what sets Pinocchio 2022 apart?
We don't know much about the direction this film will go right now. But, in terms of the fundamental premise, it appears that the classic framework will remain unchanged.
This live-action rendition of the popular fable of a wooden puppet who starts on a daring adventure to become a real kid is directed by Academy Award winner Robert Zemeckis. Geppetto (Tom Hanks) is a wood carver who creates and cares for Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his own son.
The Cast of Pinocchio 2022
This is when things start to get interesting. As previously said, the cast roster for Pinocchio 2022 is quite fantastic.
Tom Hanks, everyone's best buddy (but especially mine), has stepped into the role of woodcarver Geppetto, who later becomes Pinocchio's papa. Jiminy Cricket, the anthropomorphic cricket and Pinocchio's guide or conscience, is voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The ethereal Blue Fairy who brings Pinocchio to life is played by Cynthia Erivo. And Benjamin Evan Ainsworth has been cast as Pinocchio, our primary character (or youngster).
Keegan-Michael Key has been recruited as the voice of the dubious fox Honest John, Lorraine Bracco has been cast as the voice of new character Sofia the Seagull, Luke Evans has been cast as The Coachman, and Sheila Atim has been cast as Signora Vitelli.
First impressions of the film
While we don't have many specifics yet, there have been some updates on what to expect from Pinocchio 2022 in the form of first-look photographs and a teaser video (that curiously does not feature Pinocchio).
