A new series "Cinematoudie Tokusatsu Club" introduces attractive cast members to special effects works. This is the first in a series examining Yuna Hoshino as Kurama Nene/Nago Masked Rider, who will play the lead role in "Masked Rider Geets," the fourth in the 2021 Masked Rider series.

INTERVIEW - About the movie

Q: How do you feel now that you have been chosen to appear in the film? Also, how is the reaction from people around you?

I think it's wonderful to be a part of such a historic project. My mother was overjoyed when she heard about the audition. When I told my mother, she cried. When Yumena became a rider, my brothers said, "Let's buy a rider belt. When Yumena became a Rider, my brothers told me that they would buy a Rider belt for her.

Q. Have you watched the "Kamen Rider" series?

I watched it as a ritual every Sunday. My brothers had and still have many transformation belts. My favorite is "Kamen Rider Kabuto," 2006-2007. The transformation pose was my brother's favorite (laughs).

Q. What type of person is Kurama Nemoto?

She is a celebrity because she grew up in an elite family. Her message is "I want freedom, I want to live a normal life," and she is an influencer. She has been through many battles, but she is an independent young woman who has the strength to accomplish what she set out to do. She is a competitive person and will never give up on her goals no matter what obstacles she faces. As the youngest of siblings, it was difficult for me to understand Nemoto's perspective as an only child. I am the only young woman in Nemoto's life (laughs).

Q: What kind of rider is Kamen Rider Nago?

I think Nago is cute because of his cute transformation pose. He is also a star cat, so I like that. The ears resemble headphones, but I have no idea how Nago will use them in the future. I am looking forward to seeing the new design.

Q. How did it feel to be a masked rider?

It was amazing! (Laughs). It was amazing. Even though I had read the script, the transformation seemed so close at hand. But the moment I put on the belt, it really felt real.

Q: What were some of the difficulties in filming a special effects work?

I had to use my imagination when looking at things I couldn't see. It was difficult to imagine a big enemy or a beam coming out of this place, but I gradually became able to do it. My acting skills are still in their infancy, but I would like to improve them.

Q. Are there any action scenes?

Q: Are there any action scenes? Nene is not that aggressive. Actually, my athletic ability is a little below average. I have been a YouTuber since I was in the 6th grade. I didn't do much exercise and didn't participate in any club activities. My athletic ability was so low that when I was running, my coach would sometimes comment on my running style. It was so weird that I thought, "Why not just make it weird?" He said, "If it's so weird, why don't you make it as weird as you can?"

Q: The winner of the "Desire Grand Prix," a survival game that appears in the play, can make a wish on a desire card. If you were to participate, what kind of wish would you make?

I wish to have enough income for me and my family. My mother worked very hard to raise my siblings and I would like to buy a house and a car to make life easier. Fundamentally, I am my celebrity idol.

PRIVATE Q&A with the real face

Q: What are your strengths and weaknesses?

My strong point is that I am positive and cheerful. I am often told that I have a back-and-forth personality. But that is simply because my personality shows two sides of the same coin. (laughs) (laughs) What I am not good at is that I easily show my emotions on my face or in my attitude, and they are seen through by others.

Q. What is your charm point?

My smile. It's my smile. I am often told that YouTuber Yumena's smile gets me. It tends to be angular, so even when I can't smile easily, it looks like I'm smiling.

Q: What is your favorite movie or drama?

The movie "Kimi no Pancreas wo Tabetai" is a masterpiece that I enjoy watching over and over again. When this movie was made, Minami Hamabe was the lead actress in Minami. It was interesting to hear how she felt about her performance. It is fun to read and hear what other directors have to say about their films.

Q. What do you do for beauty?

Before I meet you in person at an event, I do exercise and diet. I like to eat, so I consume a lot. ...... (Laughs).

Q. Why did you decide to become an actor?

When I was in kindergarten, my parents used to watch TV dramas. According to my parents, I learned lines and could perform them in front of others. I think I always liked performing in front of people. One time I auditioned for a child actor. However, I was unable to go due to personal reasons. I regretted it. When I was in the sixth grade, my brother saw me appearing on his YouTube channel. He scouted me and offered to help me. I then started my own channel and did some modeling work. I became an influencer and was asked again. "What are your current interests? The office answered, "I want to act."

Q: What is interesting about acting?

I think the experience of becoming someone else is unique. Even if Yumena is going through a difficult time, she forgets about it when she is acting. It feels great to be able to be someone different, and YouTube is a great way for me to keep in touch with my followers. I would like to challenge myself to do more things in the future.
